In 2014, Australian-Italian soprano Giuseppina Grech won first prize in the prestigious Italian Acclaim Opera Fellowship Awards which enabled her to study at the Teatro Accademia alla Scala (La Scala) under the tutelage of renowned international soprano Luciana Serra.

During her time abroad, Giuseppina made her professional debut performing the role of Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at Teatro Moriconi, Italy. International performance highlights include the Operetta Ich liebe die Welt Music Festival with the AIMS Orchestra, Austria, and the Pergolesi Spontini Music Festival, Italy.

Giuseppina now resides in Sydney, performing regularly with Opera Australia. Giuseppina made her debut with the company in 2016 performing the title roles of Isabella and Ferdinand in the new opera El Kid featuring the music from Bizet’s Carmen in Opera Australia’s Victorian and New South Wales Schools Tour. Highlight performances with the company also include La Bohème at Handa Opera on the Harbour, Lucia di Lammermoor, Aida, Madama Butterfly, and Anna Bolena at the Sydney Opera House.

Notable performance credits also include Frasquita Carmen (OSA); Swallow The Happy Prince (Victorian Opera); Valencienne The Merry Widow, Josephine HMS Pinafore (Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Victoria); Dido Dido and Aeneas (VCA), Daughter Snow White and Other Grimm Tales (Gordan Kerry’s International Opera Premiere); Lady Thiang The King & I (Babirra Theatre) earning Giuseppina a Music Theatre Guild Award for “Best Female Performer in a Supporting Role”.

Giuseppina tours nationally and internationally with some of Australia’s most celebrated artists, and will make her debut performing the role of Micaëla in Opera Australia's National Tour of Carmen in 2021.
