Tenor Nathan Bryon is supported by the Ruskin Opera Scholarship with Melba Opera Trust (2020-2021). From Geurie in rural NSW, his operatic roles include Odoardo (Ariodante) for Apollo Opera Collective, Il Podestà di Lagonero (La finta Giardiniera) for Operantics and Acis (Acis and Galatea) for Ensemble Polypheme, an opera company in Sydney he recently cofounded, focusing on the development of baroque performance practice skills for young artists.
Nathan’s chorus experience includes La Callisto (Cavalli) for the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and Ernani (Verdi) for Opera Australia.
Nathan has extensive experience as an oratorio soloist amongst Sydney choirs and orchestras. He has performed Mozart’s Requiem (Penrith Symphony Orchestra), JS Bach’s St Matthew Passion (Operantics), Stainer’s Crucifixion (St Stephen’s Uniting Church), Durante’s Missa in C, Vivaldi’s Magnificat (Central Coast Chorale), Haydn’s Die Schopfung (Central Coast Chorale) Maunder’s Olivet to Calvary (St Stephen’s Uniting Church), Handel’s Messiah (Manly-Warringah Choral Society) Haydn’s Nelson Mass (Manly-Warringah Choral Society), Mozart’s Mass in C Minor (Manly-Warringah Choral Society).
In 2019, Nathan attended the Melbourne International Festival of Lieder and Art Song, where he took part in master classes with renown lieder specialist Dr Graham Johnson. He performed across Tasmania as a part of an operatic tour with Simon Kenway, Peter Coleman-Wright AO and Cheryl Barker AO and, through his scholarship with Pacific Opera, travelled to Germany as one of four young Australian artists to participate in an intensive networking and performance program facilitated by the German Embassy in Australia.
