VOCAL COACH

In an accomplished career, Anthony Legge has worked extensively with the major British opera companies, as well as with the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, with Opera Australia, and many European opera companies in Bayreuth, Amsterdam, Vilnius, Riga among other cities.

Among his senior appointments, he was Head of Music at English National Opera (for 14 years) and worked as Associate Music Director at Opera Australia for over a decade before returning to London in 2018.

In these senior roles, in addition to conducting, his responsibilities included work as a vocal coach, and earlier in his career he was also a regular visiting vocal coach for the Royal Opera House Young Singers Programme.

Renowned for his focus on the young and developing artist, in addition to coaching he published “The Art of Auditioning” and, with Mary King, he wrote “The Singer’s Handbook – A guide for aspiring singers”. He has also particIpated on numerous panels for major singing awards, and has given masterclasses on auditioning.

Currently, based in London, Anthony Legge consults to British opera companies such as Glyndebourne and English National Opera and is Interim Head of Opera at the Royal Academy of Music.

As a specialist vocal coach for professional opera singers, he works on Audition Preparation, Music Coaching, Preparing Cover Roles, Preparing Main Stage Roles, as well as a Répétiteur.
